IN 7 - Experimental Video Residency
IN 7, is a 7 day experimental video art residency that invites artists to create site responsive video works inspired by Gardenship, a vast warehouse and art studio complex in Kearny Point, New Jersey. Open to artists both experienced in video and those new to the medium, the residency emphasizes experimentation, collaboration, and process. Participants are given time, space, and support to develop a project over one intensive week, working independently or in collaboration with videographers, editors, and musicians as needed. Each residency culminates in a public screening of the completed videos, fostering community connection and shared creative exchange.
IN 7 is back in 2026
At the end of May 2026, IN 7 enters a new phase as a city based, site responsive video residency rooted in Jersey City. Artists and filmmakers are invited to create short experimental works over seven intensive days, drawing inspiration from the city’s landscapes, architecture, communities, and histories. While the residency shifts away from the former Gardenship warehouse in Kearny, New Jersey, the core of IN 7 remains unchanged: experimentation, collaboration, urgency, and creative risk. Supported by a grant from the Jersey City Arts and Culture Trust Fund, along with technical resources and access to collaborators, this next chapter expands what site specificity can mean while continuing to prioritize process, connection, and community.
